I finally finished Butterick 5030, after pretty much taking the whole thing apart and resewing it.  I never did pull the pattern out of the trash.  I am never going to sew this dress again.  After seeing how ineffectual the hook and eye closures were, I finally just sewed the damn bodice of the dress shut.  When a pattern makes you think that it would be so much easier if you were just sewing buttons / buttonholes (and you don’t own a buttonholer), you know that you should pretend the whole experience just never happened. . . But, on the bright side, it’s done!  And I took the trouble to wear my cotton print dress outside for pictures.  The cows seemed to like it okay. . .

By the way, our mower is broken, and the cows are looking hungry.  Anyone want to come and mow the yard???
